As the state’s land-grant institution, West Virginia University’s mission to create a diverse and inclusive culture that advances education, healthcare and prosperity for all continues to ring true with the YCC pilot.
The University’s Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (OEDC) is the local connection that aligns the YCC’s mission with WVU’s through education, research, and service. The OEDC team has a proven track record of successful youth educational programming including Adventure WV, the largest outdoor orientation program in the country. The collaborative’s programmatic background and cutting-edge STEM education for youth and young adults in outdoor activities allows the YCC to capitalize on the intellectual and social capital that a university can provide. The OEDC provides the pilot with research-based evaluation of the pilot, program implementation and operational support as well as YCC and OEDC intersection with Science Behind Cycling.
The expertise between the YCC and the OEDC creates a collaboration dedicated to the success of the pilot in Morgantown and the success of a growing biking community in West Virginia.
